On October 31, 2022, PIXCITY DAO launched the "100 Moving Pixels" Hackcity Urban Design Challenge. The competition is open to architects and urban planners around the world to design the next-gen city, PIXCITY with 100 Moving Spaces.
After two months, PIXCITY DAO has received and shortlisted 17 entries with more complete solutions. On March 5th, PIXCITY DAO invited ten jury members to make an online selection of the shortlisted entries, and finally selected the top three for the Hackcity Theme Award.
But in addition, PIXCITY DAO also prepared the most popular award "Ville Genesis", and gave the right to choose to you who are reading at this moment.
2302003 - PIX-ISITE - BAD
PIX-ISITE is an innovative urban development based on moving spaces and their interaction with the city/people. In this city, it is possible to see moving spaces spread everywhere, sometimes colonized, sometimes on their own, but always in need of interaction with people, just like a parasite. The project takes its name from this, and it is a people-oriented habitat.

We have designed a set of intelligent service system for the faster construction and growth of Black Rock City, so as to make people’s life more convenient. By adopting prefabricated units for rapid splicing and assembly, we build a city and provide a field for people to create, access to energy ,exchange goods and show themselves here.
2302009 - Lagos Instantopia - OFF GRID
What if a trial urban community emerge organically through a bottom-up progress as refuge to the existing urban informalities in an evolved form? We believe the exploration of PIXCITY design in such context could transcend the urban informalities in Lagos, while providing extensive solutions for urban issues such as traffic congestion, housing shortages, poor urban infrastructures, environmental pollution, and social inequality.
2302011 - PixPort Lagos - SA lab
PixPort design uses generative methods to create complex plans for urban master planning. This approach allows breaking down the planning process into smaller, more manageable sub-issues. The modular design also uses aesthetically pleasing, sustainable materials that allow for flexibility and incremental changes in city buildings. PixPort is an approach, a design system, open for worldwide implementation.

“Urban Nomadism" is a Lagos-based community transformation program based on movable space modules and photovoltaic power generation systems, combining PIX ROBOBUS-based movable multi-functional modules with photovoltaic power generation systems distributed in the community to form an internally self-replicating community space transformation.

Black Rock City is a temporary city for participants to join the Burning Man Festival. During the day, it attracts people from all over the world to come and devote their artistic creations, time, and energy. We are considering creating a more comfortable, modern, and convenient urban space for activities in the future, creating a future Burning Man Festival city while respecting the ten principles of Burning Man Festival activities as much as possible.
2302017 - PIX+NOISE+CITY - The Tribe
In PIX Noise City, space clusters that can flow at any time are formed through the combination of different functional pix modules. Through the spatial transformation strategy, the project diversifies and decentralizes various service facilities to create a more pedestrian-friendly community. By introducing autonomous vehicles, which superimpose various public facility functions, will dynamically expand the boundaries of community services. Besides, through adding community flexible spaces using with the mobile box, can improve the efficiency of time-sharing use of community space.

The atomization of society in the future will promote the decentralization of urban spatial organization, and by enhancing the mobility of various resources, it will meet more refined resource and demand matching. On the one hand, street space is the urban traffic, infrastructure and on the other hand, it is also the most important urban public space, which largely determines the vitality of the city and the quality of public life.

We envision a XINBEI neighbourhood of diversity, convenience, comfort and sustainability. Within a 10-minute travel distance, people at variousl pace, children and adults, on wheelchairs and on bikes, can all have a pleasant experience. Instead of drastic deconstruction or construction, wel propose a light-weighted intervention strategy with programmatic modules and multi-functional PEVs. The system, together with a new street system and smart infrastructures, provide an accessible, responsive, adaptive and sustainable system to reactivate the residue spaces.
2302024 - Pixeltree
The purpose of this design is to build a self-organizing dynamic adjustment system, which will consist of two parts. The first part is to assign different functional attributes to the autonomous mobility space module, and rationalize it into a pixel tree that can dynamically adjust the composition of the module. The second part is to build a variable frame around the perimeter of each main building within the community to complete the docking of the original building with the mobile functional module.

In the pix city, administrators and citizens could reorganize the city's "Space Units" and "Space Structure" dynamically, with their "Space Needs" and city's "Space Data”, through the technology of Artificial Intelligence and Automatic Driving, “Pix Moving”.
2302106- Honeycomb city
This passage describes the design principles behind a city called Black Rockcity, USA. The city is being built with a grid that merges with the existing radial grid. The design incorporates elements of biomimicry, creating zones of dispersion and superblocks, making it a city designed for movement and pedestrians. The connecting circles in the design provide recirculation and serve to meet the needs of the users.
2302111 - FLOATING GRID CITY
The Floating Grid City proposed at Shanghai KIC is derived from the disintegration of a rigid city grid structure commonly adopted for modern cities in the 20th century. The multi-layers, more dynamic & flexible structure, aka floating grid system for a future city corresponds with autopilot/Al controlled Pix Robobus that serves as movable architecture space.
