Most car companies are still manufacturing in the way of production line, which was invented by Henry Ford one hundred years ago. The role of robotics system lead engineer will work with the top engineers and creative team members at PIX to reimagine how cities are built and reshape people’s lifestyle. We are seeking robotics engineer to help us design and develop the robotic additive manufacturing system. You are self-motivated, preferring to solving problem creatively. Position Overview

  1. Robotics System Engineer will be responsible for leading the robotic manufacturing team to develop the robotic manufacturing system for WAAM technology at PIX;

  2. This position requires versatile skills and interdisciplinary collaboration. Your work output will directly lead to the birth of an innovative manufacturing system that may transform the automotive industry;

  3. The role will have close collaboration with Generative Designer, Industrial Designer, Vehicle General Arrangement Engineer, and Assembly Engineer at PIX;

  4. You have excellent problem-solving capability, a broad interdisciplinary vision, and the ability to lead an interdisciplinary team to work together effectively.

Main responsibilities and duties

  • Develop and design the hardware & software of the robotic additive manufacturing system

  • Plan the technical approaches and strategy of the manufacturing system

  • Design, develop and experiment with end-effectors/tooling for the robotic arms

  • Process monitoring, compensation strategy and closed-loop control development

  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and designers to get car parts manufactured/test production 

  • Work with robotics team to design robot operator experience and develop the robotic fabrication methods

  • Participate in product definition and discussion

  • Collect and analyze data to inform development and quality control

Requirements

  • Ph.D with a solid background in robotics, mechanical automation or architecture related fields;

  • Experience in intelligent welding or additive manufacturing;

  • Experience with KUKA PRC, Rhino and Grasshopper;

  • Experience in robotic fabrication including the ability to develop custom scripts (python or C-sharp) for the operation and control of the robot systems;

  • Can accept short-term business trips (2-6 weeks);

  • A team player.
